Job Summary
Create the roadmap for Mississauga’s transportation future! Reporting to the Manager of Active Transportation, the Transportation Planner will bring value to the team by creating and implementing long range transportation plans and contributing to a cultural shift towards multi-modal transportation in Mississauga.
Duties and Responsibilities
As a member of the Active Transportation team in the Transportation Infrastructure Management Section, you will be required to:
- Assist in the implementation of the City’s Transportation Master Plan, including the development and implementation of other plans under its umbrella, such as the Cycling Master Plan Update and the Micro-mobility Implementation Plan
- Review and prepare official plan policies
- Develop policy advice and documents to implement Provincial and Regional polices and plans
- Develop and conduct effective consultations with other professionals, the public and various interest groups
- Research, prepare and present reports on transportation matters to City Council and Committees of Council
- Represent the Active Transportation team and the Section on inter-departmental and inter-agency projects
- Perform other related duties as assigned
*Note: Ability to attend in-person meetings within the GTHA as required
Skills and Qualifications
- A university degree in transportation planning, urban planning, urban geography or a related discipline with a minimum of three years experience
- Membership or eligibility for membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute is preferred
- Knowledge of Provincial policies and plans related to transportation and land use
- Highly developed creative thinking, problem solving, research, analytical, oral and written communication skills required
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Good working knowledge of transportation planning theories, principles and analysis
- Project management skills and experience would be considered an asset
Hourly Rate: $50.39 - $67.18
