Standard Hiring Process

Step 1: Submitting your application

  • View all of our jobs and click on the job that interests you and matches your skills.
  • Click apply and create a candidate profile (if you are new) or login (if you are a returning candidate).
  • Upload your resume/cover letter and answer all job application questions.
  • You can update your contact information at any time by logging into your candidate profile.
  • We will connect with you by email or phone.
  • Make sure to monitor your email regularly for updates from the City of Mississauga, including checking your spam or junk folder!

Step 2: Application screening

  • Our Hiring Team will be reviewing the applications based on the requirements of each position.
  • All applicants considered for an interview/assessment will be contacted by email or phone.

Step 3: Assessments & Interviews

  • The interview panel will consist of Hiring Managers.
  • Interview(s), assessments and references will be based on job related criteria.

  • A search of publicly available records may be performed.

Step 4: Selection

  • The Recruiting team will discuss the results of the interview, assessments and references to select the best candidate for the job.

Step 5: Job Offer & Onboarding

  • An offer of employment will be made to the successful candidate(s).
  • After you sign your offer letter, you will be sent an email link to start your onboarding activities

Step 6: First Day

  • We have a comprehensive program to welcome you to the City!
