Supervisor, Facility Maintenance

Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager Facilities Maintenance, the Supervisor Facilities Maintenance Contracts is responsible to oversee a team of four contract administrator and three trades staff.  Requires the management of maintenance contracts for facility site work and providing preventative and on demand services to City facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will oversee the planned and demand maintenance contracts related to the site management and staff responsible for all areas of maintenance and repairs for city-wide facilities including but not limited to exterior and interior building envelope, building structure, doors, roofing, parking lots, roadways, sidwalks, windows, plumbing.  And maintenance of mechanical systems, like vehicle hoits, overhead doors, air compressors and pressure washing equipment.  

Responsibilities include:

-    Review and prioritize maintenance work requirements, evaluate work performance and provide recommendations for the maintenance program and contract specifications 
-    Ensure compliance with the Service Level Agreements  in terms of response time and completion time of service request
-    Ensure Work Orders are managed and closed properly in a timely manner 
-    Supervise staff with respect to customer service relations, team effectiveness and performance in their daily maintenance duties including preventive maintenance and demand repairs within city facilities. 
-    Adhere to legislated requirements ensuring that all assets meet code requirements and are in good state of repair.
-    Participate in Corporate, Departmental, Division Working Groups, committees or special projects, as required. 
-    Support all capital and sectional activities being performed in facilities including staff scheduling, notifications and meeting with core F&PM teams. 
-    Review and validate management requests for change of service levels and issues pertaining to health and well-being of staff. Provide support for the 24-hour maintenance of building systems and equipment for necessary environmental conditions.
-    Monitor budget and spending patterns to identify trends to the Manager and future opportunities to reduce spending through continuous improvement. 
-    Prepare effective specifications for maintenance service and repair contracts related to City facilities including analyzing bids and making recommendations of maintenance contracts.
-    Monitor and administrate contract document requirements for preventive maintenance on all equipment performed by outside contractors ensuring audit requirements are achieved and authorized for payment. 
-    Demonstrate the ability to initiate and execute projects utilizing sound project management principles, best practices and theories. 
-    Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

-    Post-secondary degree in Architecture, Structural, Civil, Mechanical or related fields
-    Minimum of 3 years experience in managing staff including hiring, onboarding, performance management, professional development 
-    Minimum of 5 years hands-on, proven experience in the operations and maintenance of building systems and services. 
-    A thorough knowledge of the operation of the building systems, associated maintenance procedures, pertinent acts and regulations. 
-    Strong supervisory skills and the ability to plan and organize work with others. 
-    Proven excellent oral and written communication skills required to interact with staff, building occupants, suppliers and contractors. 
-    Strong report writing and presentation skills are necessary. 
-    Experience with various software applications with above average abilities in MS Office and SAP systems. 
-    Experience with INFOR Public Sector Application Software is considered an asset. 

Hourly Rate/Salary: $50.39 - $67.18 (Salary $91,701 - $122,268)
