Job Summary
As the first person who welcomes entrepreneurs and guests to the IDEA Square One Entrepreneurship Hub, you will be the energy that sets the tone for Mississauga’s vibrant entrepreneurial community. In this front‑facing role, you will support a wide range of small business and entrepreneurship activities delivered through IDEA Mississauga, including programs offered by the Mississauga Business Entrepreneur Centre (MBEC).
Reporting to the Supervisor, IDEA Innovation Hub, you will deliver exceptional client service and seamless administrative support, keeping daily operations running smoothly while confidently responding to diverse business inquiries. You will also roll up your sleeves to help shape engaging digital content and creative designs that bring IDEA’s initiatives to life, and be hands‑on in supporting workshops, networking events, and business programs.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast‑paced team environment, communicates with confidence, and is energized by helping entrepreneurs and small businesses grow and succeed.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide in-person front-line small business and entrepreneurship support and information to clients by telephone, email, walk-ins, website, and social media.
• Support the administration and operations of the IDEA Square One hub and membership program including liaising with members;
• Responsible for coordination, tracking inventory and office supplies, and general office administration;
• Coordinate logistics and provide administrative support related to delivery of small business in-person seminars, webinars, events and programs, including WebEx and MS Teams support, room bookings, speaker booking, registrations, materials preparation and maintenance, client file maintenance, tracking, event surveys, follow up and reporting;
• Support the d esign, develop and post images and content to the department’s social media accounts;
• Support team with delivery of entrepreneurship programs and initiatives;
• Assist with preparing and providing monthly and ad hoc reporting on performance metrics, client interactions, in–person seminars, webinars and events, social media, membership, website engagement;
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
• Graduation from post-secondary education in Business Administration or similar program and minimum 2 years progressively more responsible administrative and front-line customer service experience;
• Excellent time management and organizational skills;
• Strong attention to details, adheres to deadlines, ability to multitask, excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills essential to work with all levels of government, clients, staff, and external agencies;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required;
• Must have an ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative team environment as well as independently;
• Knowledge or experience in a small business or as an entrepreneur is an asset.
• Experience in supporting start up entrepreneurs and businesses is considered an asset
• Knowledge of the following programs such as Canva, WordPress, SurveyMonkey, MailChimp and Eventbrite is an asset;
• Strong aptitude using Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and other PC software is required;
• Strong proficiency in English grammar and spelling is essential.
Hourly Rate/Salary Range: $37.96 – $50.61
Expected Hiring Range: $37.96 – $39.00
The expected hiring range reflects the anticipated starting rate for this position, based on the skills and experience required.
Work Location: IDEA Square One 100 City Centre Drive, Mississauga
(4 days in office) Monday - Friday 9am to 5pm, with occasional evenings, weekends
