Job Summary

Responsible providing a safe skating experience during Public Skates to meet the needs of all participants through monitoring compliance of the Skaters Code of Conduct.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible to ensure the delivery of a comprehensive Public Skating Program during Public Skates to meet the needs of all participants through monitoring compliance of the Skaters Code of Conduct, ongoing supervision and excellent customer and staff relations.
  • Ensure participants are wearing appropriate equipment for the program
  • Deal with customer service issues and escalate to Lead Skate Patroller if required
  • Assist in conducting safety checks of ice conditions, programming space (condition of boards, gates, glass etc.)
  • Monitor use of allowed equipment. 
  • Ensure ice is clear pre and post skate.
  • Help maintain a clean and safe facility.
  • Perform First Aid, asses accidents and  incidents
  • Perform administrative tasks as required such as ratio’s are maintained and report to Lead Skate Patroller,
  • Ensure Accident/Incident forms; Behaviour reports etc. are completed and submitted.
  • Ongoing inventory of first aid equipment.
  • Communicate any issues to Lead Skate Patroller
Skills and Qualifications
  • Emergency First Aid Certificate CPR "C" is required.   (Lifesaving Society, Canadian Red Cross Society,  St. John’s Ambulance or the Canadian Ski Patrol)
  • Strong skating skills and knowledge of safe on ice practices
  • Exposure to cold working environment
  • Primarily arena location

Hourly Rate/Salary: 15.01 - 16.69
