Job Summary

Are you curious, analytical, team-oriented, and motivated by real-world impact? Invest Mississauga, the City of Mississauga’s Economic Development Division, is seeking a Research Analyst to support the City’s goal of being one of the best places to start, locate, and grow a business. Reporting to the Supervisor, Economic Analysis & Program Development, this is an applied research and operational support role focused on developing datadriven insights to support investment attraction and service delivery to local businesses and entrepreneurs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with marketing and client-facing staff to develop content supporting industry and entrepreneurship-related marketing and information materials
  • Maintain and update core databases and communication materials related to economic development indicators, including business investment, labour markets, real estate conditions, and industry profiles
  • Provide research and analytical support to inform divisional initiatives related to investment attraction, development and delivery of business advisory and information services, and local business engagement
  • Monitor and report on local industry, entrepreneurship, innovation, and small business trends and competitive positioning  
  • Respond to ad hoc information requests from internal and external stakeholders, including Council members, City leadership, and industry partners

Skills and Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business, Economics, Economic Development, Public Administration, Data Analytics or related field of study
  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative research and analysis
  • Demonstrated knowledge of economic, business and entrepreneurship trends and drivers as they relate to municipal economies
  • Strong research and data-analytic skills, including the ability to gather and synthesize diverse sources of information into strategic insights
  • Proven skills in communicating research insights through charts, tables, graphs, and presentations
  • Demonstrated proficiency in core analytic and graphic tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to multi-task and work well with deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and within a team setting
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and customer-service orientation
  • Must demonstrate curiousity, creative problem-solving, good judgement, and commitment to an inclusive work environment

Hourly Rate/Salary: $70,807 - $94,410
Hours of Work: 35
Work Location: Civic Centre. Hybrid-3 days in office with divisional request that staff come in on Tuesday
