Job Summary

Do you want to be part of the team that brings a cultural shift towards multi-modal transportation in Mississauga? If so, Transportation Planning is looking for a Project Leader that will create and implement long-range transportation plans and establish a city-wide framework for multi-modal transportation.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Manager, Transportation Planning, this position will:
• Undertake multi-modal transportation projects to implement the City’s Transportation Master Plan (TMP) in partnership with the appropriate City staff, other transportation agencies, funding partners and/or stakeholders
• Undertake Corridor Transportation Master Plans, City-wide transportation studies and area-specific transportation reviews
• Initiate the development and monitoring of City-wide transportation policies for the City’s Official Plan, ensuring the necessary supporting research and technical analysis is undertaken
• Undertake the Development Charges Transportation Background Study in consultation with other sections, divisions and departments
• Provide support for the annual budgeting process as it relates to section, divisional and departmental projects
• Review local, national, and international best practices on transportation planning matters, with a view to guiding the development and advancement of the city’s transportation system
• Represent the section and/or department on inter-departmental and inter-agency projects, attending public meetings, giving presentations and answering questions
• Prepare presentations, briefing memos, corporate reports and other correspondence for senior city staff and members of City Council and Committees of Council on transportation planning matters
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

• A graduate from a recognized university program in transportation planning, civil engineering or related program with a minimum of 5 years of experience
• Membership or eligibility for membership as a professional engineer or in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute   
• Demonstrated strong project management and ability to multi-task, prioritize and adapt quickly to change
• Key job competencies are acting with integrity, communicating effectively, driving continuous improvement, serving customers, resolving conflict, driving projects to completion and thinking broadly
• Good working knowledge of transportation planning theories, principles and analysis techniques
• Strong working knowledge of related disciplines such as the environmental assessment process, land use planning and traffic and transit operations is an asset
• Understanding of Provincial, Regional, GTA and City transportation policy context and key trends that influence and shape the city

Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 97,831.00 - $ 130,442.00

Work Location: Civic Centre - 300 City Centre Drive, Mississauga
Work Model: This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring employees to be onsite in the office 3 days per week and allowing remote work for the remaining days. Specific in-office days may be set by the team or department to support collaboration and business needs.
