Job Summary

 

The Project Leader will manage and implement a variety of digital projects, supporting the City’s digital vision by expanding and improving the Mississauga.ca platform. The role oversees multiple projects of varying scope and delivers products that comply with international digital best practices and WCAG 2.0 AA regulatory standards. The role also contributes to operational effectiveness within the section and supports multi-divisional project alignment.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Lead multidisciplinary digital projects in partnership with City staff, stakeholders, vendors, and the Digital Strategy & Experience (DSX) team.
  • Plan work activities including schedules, budgets, and cost controls.
  • Manage quality assurance processes, approvals, and communications.
  • Lead discovery and documentation of business, user, functional, and non-functional requirements.
  • Facilitate information gathering and requirements sessions with technical staff, UX Designers, Content Designers, and business partners.
  • Prepare and deliver regular project status, issue, and risk reports to management and Steering Committees.
  • Lead project teams with indirect reporting relationships and address performance issues.
  • Educate stakeholders and technical staff on digital best practices, performance measurement, and product strategy.
  • Identify, evaluate, and propose AI-enabled opportunities to improve Mississauga.ca, including customer-facing features, content operations, and backend workflows.
  • Manage stakeholder engagement across requirements, implementation, and delivery phases.
  • Delegate work to team members, functional managers, and business clients.
  • Influence and inform key decision makers.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to achieve performance metrics including Voice of the Customer, AODA compliance, and quality assurance outcomes.
  • Drive continuous process improvement across design, development, and customer teams.
  • Serve as the primary liaison accountable for all project deliverables.
  • Resolve barriers related to project and change management.
  • Develop project documentation including charters, plans, and supporting artifacts.
  • Stay current with local, national, and international digital best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Skills and Qualifications

 

  • Post-secondary education or professional designation in a related field with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
  • Experience leading digital delivery using Agile and iterative approaches in collaboration with designers, developers, content teams, and business partners.
  • Deep experience working on large enterprise websites, web development technologies, user experience design, and service design.
  • Significant experience delivering and operating WordPress-based websites, including publishing workflows, content governance, and platform best practices.
  • Knowledge of digital product and human-centred design principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of enterprise information management practices for public websites, including content lifecycle management, taxonomy/metadata, records retention, and privacy considerations.
  • Ability to envision and propose responsible AI enhancements to the website and digital communications (e.g., improved search, content recommendations, and self-serve help) with a focus on clarity, trust, accessibility, and measurable service outcomes.
  • Experience preparing reports, plans, business requirements, procurement, and contract documents.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience managing stakeholders, consultants, and conducting research and data analysis.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities with sound judgment and professionalism.
  • Certifications in human-centred design, Agile, or Business Analysis are an asset.
  • Experience in municipal or government environments is an asset.

 

Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 50.39 - $ 67.18
