Job Summary
The Live Event and Media Production team is seeking skilled Technical Operators to support the delivery of festivals and events at Celebration Square, Meadowvale Theatre, Paramount Fine Food Centre, and the Living Arts Centre. Working within a dynamic team environment, Technical Operators are responsible for the setup, operation, and execution of technical production elements including audio, lighting, and video systems, ensuring high-quality, seamless event delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up and configure production systems (lighting, audio, video, cameras, staging, rigging, etc.) and provide programming in accordance with event requirements.
- Review and interpret event documentation, including plots, input lists, and cue lists, to ensure accurate execution. Collaborate with clients and artists to ensure all production requirements are met.
- Troubleshoot technical systems and perform onsite repairs as needed.
- Lead production crews during setup, operation, and changeovers.
- Follow best practices while ensuring the safety of staff, venue, and equipment at all times.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to staff, supporting skill development and growth.
- Perform onsite equipment maintenance to ensure all systems remain in good working condition.
Skills and Qualifications
- Advanced operational knowledge in at least one core production system (e.g., DiGiCo, MA Lighting, ETC, TriCaster, or similar), with 3-5 years of experience operating consoles for festivals or live events.
- Demonstrated experience in the setup and operation of production equipment and systems.
- Strong understanding of signal flow and system troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of lighting, audio, and video protocols and their practical application.
- Ability to deliver high-quality work efficiently in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
- Proficiency with standard computer and industry software, including MS Office, QLab, Capture, Workbench, and similar tools.
- Ability to safely lift and handle production equipment, including lighting fixtures, staging decks, truss, motors, and related gear.
- The successful candidate must possess a valid Emergency First Aid and CPR B or Standard First Aid and CPR C (Lifesaving Society, Canadian Red Cross Society, St. John’s Ambulance or the Canadian Ski Patrol) certification (must be recognized by WSIB) by your start date.
Hourly Rate/Salary: $22.37 - $28.25
Hours of Work: Up to 44 hours per week
