Job Summary
Reporting to the Development and Design Initiatives Manager, in the Development and Design Division, the successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing all variance and consent applications and preparing Departmental comments and, when necessary, defending the position of the Planning and Building Department at the Ontario Land Tribunal.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Committee of Adjustment Research: issues, decisions and trends
- Conduct site inspections
- Coordinate comments with other Divisions and Departments
- Liaise with staff, Councillors and other City Departments and agencies
- Respond to enquiries from homeowners, builders and consultants
- Attend Committee of Adjustment meeting
- Prepare reports and make presentations
- Provide professional planning advice and information concerning City policies and procedures for land use to the public, applicants and City departments
- Perform other related duties as maybe assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- Post‑secondary education in Urban Planning or a related discipline with professional planning experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of professional planning experience within the Province of Ontario
- Member of, or eligible to become a member of, the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) or Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI)
- Planning experience regarding the reviewing of minor variance and consent applications
- Highly developed report writing and communication skills
- Ability to work in team environment and build relationships
- Knowledge of MS Office computer applications is required
Hourly Rate/Salary: $91,701 - $122,268
