Job Summary
Under the direction of the Supervisor, Stores the successful candidate will provide maintenance parts in a timely, cost-efficient fashion, and manage inventory, while providing one to one customer service on a daily basis to both internal and external customers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for maintaining parts inventory, ensuring stock items are ordered and available in a timely manner.
- Responsible for maintaining inventory management system accuracy and integrity.
- Responsible for maintaining inventory based on seasonal business needs.
- Responsible for preparing and monitoring contract/tender documents ensuring its validity, accuracy, and integrity.
- Recommend changes to contract documents as business needs change.
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure consistency in purchase of fleet item(s) required City-wide.
- Liaise with purchasing department as required by Purchasing by-laws.
- Responsible for quality control of parts delivered, and reliability monitoring.
- Responsible for maintaining and monitoring the service levels, customer service and responsiveness of the parts staff.
- Liaise with Supervisors/Manager regarding any issues related to parts, inventory or staffing.
- Ensures parts catalogue and cycle counting is updated.
- Follow-up with back-orders.
- Stay current with market trends and make recommendations related to parts to increase efficiencies.
- Performs duties of counter person to provide service to mechanics as required.
- Posts inventory to computerised system and prices all work orders as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
NOTE:
- Overtime call-ins will be required.
- Candidate must be willing to work all shifts (including all Ontario civic and statutory holidays):
- Shifts include:
- Sunday to Thursday 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm
- Friday to Tuesday 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm
- Tuesday to Saturday 11:00 pm – 7:30 am
- Friday to Tuesday 11:00 pm – 7:30 am
- Planned shift:
- Tuesday to Saturday Afternoons 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm
- Shifts include:
- Physical demands of the position include; frequent lifting, standing, bending and carrying equipment of approximately 20 kg or greater.
- Perform duties in both indoor and outdoor setting, often exposed to varying climate conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum grade 12 education is required; post-secondary education in a related field is preferred.
- Skilled Trades Ontario 240P Parts Technician trades certificate or equivalent education and experience in inventory management.
- Minimum of 5 years of inventory management / stockroom / order desk / purchasing related experience in automotive industry; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Extensive knowledge related to parts and inventory management is required.
- Knowledge of contract management is essential.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Rules, WHIMS, and Hazardous Goods preferred.
- Ability to use equipment parts manuals related to Bus, Commercial Vehicles, Light Trucks, off road light and heavy equipment.
- Good organizational skills along with an ability to plan.
- Detail-Oriented with strong analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and provide excellent customer service to effectively deal with staff and suppliers/vendors.
- Experience with an automated fleet maintenance system is essential, basic knowledge of MS office computer applications.
- Must possess a valid, unrestricted fully-licensed Ontario Class “G” Driver's Licence or above (or equivalent for out of province applicants).
- Must have a 3-year Driver Record acceptable to the City with no record of driver's licence being suspended or revoked.
Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 62,228.00 - $ 82,974.00
