Employment Period: Monday, May 4, 2026 up to Friday, August 28, 2026 (with the option to work part-time between April 13 and November 7, 2025, before and after the employment period, based on operational needs).
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm with occasional weeknight and weekend shifts, as required.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Take part in city-wide maintenance and monitoring of natural restoration and reforestation sites, helping to shape Mississauga’s green future.
- Support City staff in coordinating volunteers for tree planting and restoration projects, fostering collaboration with partner groups while ensuring the health and safety of all participants.
- Perform data entry and quality control of natural areas program data.
- Assist in preparing insightful reports and creating maps that track restoration progress, naturalization efforts, and invasive species management.
- Help administer forestry-related contracts, gaining exposure to municipal operations and project management.
- Water young trees in City parklands to ensure their healthy establishment and long-term survival.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to collect and analyze ecological data, turning observations into actionable insights.
- Implement hands-on invasive species control methods, including manual removal techniques (hand pulling, digging).
- Operate small tools and landscaping equipment, building practical skills for future environmental work.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in a post-secondary institution as a full-time student and accepted into a full-time post-secondary institution in September 2026 or January 2027 (proof will be required).
- Background with Natural Resource or Forestry education or currently enrolled in a Natural Resource or Forestry specific program that deals with knowledge and identification of trees is preferred.
- Ability to perform strenuous tasks outdoors, with the potential for rough terrain and adverse weather conditions.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must possess Green Patch CSA approved safety boots, 6”-8” to cover ankle made of suede or leather material.
- Must hold and provide a copy of a valid and unrestricted Ontario Driver’s License Class G minimum, with a driving record that meets City standards (proof will be required at time of interview). Will be required to operate a City vehicle; however access to a personal vehicle may also be necessary.
- Must hold Emergency First Aid CPR Level C Certification by the potential start date of April 13, 2026. (proof will be required).
