Job Summary

The role provides technical support to both internal and external clients by responding to inquiries and requests from Council, City staff, and members of the public. Responsibilities include conducting research and preparing written correspondence and reports related to parking enforcement services, programs, and related initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities

Property Inspections (40%)

  • Monitors to ensure property inspections are completed in a timely manner and within prescribed service levels.
  • Ensures private property owners or their representatives submit a Letter of Authorization (LOA) to the City of Mississauga, authorizing individuals who may call for enforcement on their behalf.
  • Updates Letters of Authorization and property inspection requests in the INFOR system. The incumbent logs into INFOR to determine assigned requests, contacts property owners, and schedules private property inspections.
  • Coordinates private property enforcement and signage requirements using a City-issued vehicle to meet property representatives on-site with the Request for Property Inspection document, completing inspections as required.

Permit Administration (40%)

  • Reviews and issues new and ongoing permits (paid and unpaid) to allow parking on designated portions of City roadways for periods exceeding those prescribed by Traffic By-law 555-00.
  • Conducts site visits to review new and ongoing permits.
  • Coordinates the installation and compliance of private property enforcement signage, conducts follow-up inspections with detailed site requirement reports, and oversees the issuance of paid parking permits.
  • Ensures the INFOR system is accurately updated with the current status of each property.
  • Oversees the onboarding of all proactive properties, ensuring full compliance with enforcement regulations related to private property enforcement.
  • Investigates and resolves service requests connected to parking permits and property inspections.

Third-Party Security Companies (10%)

  • Coordinates with Parking Admin team to facilitate the onboarding of new security companies and oversees the management of private security officer training and recertification programs.
  • Resolves complex technical issues requiring specialized expertise in tracking and monitoring newly onboarded security companies and managing new security officers.
  • Monitors the performance of the City’s vehicle, towing, and uniform vendors to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, and participates in the quarterly contract procurement process for inspections of City-approved towing vendors.

Customer Service (10%)

  • Reviews and responds to concerns from staff and residents.
  • Oversees the tracking of damaged assets in the gtechna system, ensuring timely and coordinated follow-up with Traffic Operations.
  • Verifies all work complies with applicable legal and engineering standards as well as policy requirements
  • Ensures all recommendations align with City and industry standards.
  • Monitors and records all data requests from internal and external clients to ensure they are processed and invoiced accordingly.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a minimum 3-year Community College program in Transportation/Traffic Engineering Technology or a related discipline.
  •  C. Tech. designation is preferred.
  • A valid Class “G” driver’s license and an excellent driving record are required to access and operate a City vehicle.
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant field experience
  • Demonstrated excellence in organization with the ability to effectively manage competing tasks and priorities.
  • Strong written, verbal, and team communication abilities essential for collaboration and correspondence.
  • Proficient in INFOR and gtechna systems for permit and inspection management, Microsoft Office Suite for correspondence and data tracking, and database management tools for compliance monitoring.
