Job Summary

 

The Part-Time Concession Attendant (Union) plays a key role in delivering exceptional customer service at the City Centre Transit Terminal. This position is responsible for processing fare product transactions, maintaining accurate cash handling and inventory controls, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations of the concession booth. The role requires strong attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while upholding service excellence standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

Reporting to the Supervisor, Transit Revenue of the MiWay Division:

 

  • Provide outstanding customer service while assisting the public with the sale and management of the PRESTO fare product (including card issuance, loading value, refunding value, loading period passes), card holders, set up Affordable Transit Pass for eligible PRESTO accounts, and Carassauga passports at the City Centre Transit Terminal.
  • Responsible for the daily reconciliation of individual cash and fare media floats, cash balancing, occasional deposits preparation, and inventory tracking and controls, to ensure sufficient inventory is on hand at all times.
  • Adapt to a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Communicate regularly with team members, revenue staff, Supervisor, and armoured courier to ensure smooth operations.
  • Provide coverage for Full-Time or Part-Time Concession Attendant duties during absences.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings and weekends.
  • Shifts are allocated based on seniority. Current shift hours for the fare booth are:
    • Morning Shift: 7:15 am to 1:45 pm
    • Evening Shift: 1:00 pm to 7:30 pm
  • Demonstrate reliability and punctuality at all times.

Skills and Qualifications

 

  • This is a part-time position - Minimum 27 hours per week.
  • Minimum completion of Grade 12 with post-secondary education in bookkeeping or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in cash handling, reconciliation and inventory control.
  • Proficiency with computerized cash systems and POS; experience with PRESTO, CLASS and ActiveNet systems is an asset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact and communicate with the public.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team environment (sharing information and seeking resolution to problems).
  • Demonstrated Knowledge of customer service principles and practices, problem solving, self-management (taking initiatives), adaptability and accountability.
  • Excellent organizational skills with proven ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills with a commitment to service excellence and quality.

Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 20.22 - $ 33.70
Hours of Work: Minimum 27 hours / week
