March Break Camp Leaders 2020 - Community Centre Job Opportunities

We provide an inclusive camp experience where camp personnel will be required to work with participants with different needs including children with disabilities, children with behaviour challenges, newcomers, and language barriers. You will make a difference in your community and will leave a lasting impression on the children and youth who attend the camps.

  • Clarkson Community Centre/ Port Credit Arena - 2475 Truscott Drive/ 40 Stavebank Road N.
  • Erin Meadows Community Centre - 2800 Erin Centre Boulevard
  • Frank McKechnie Community Centre - 310 Bristol Road E.
  • Huron Park Recreation Centre - 830 Paisley Boulevard W.
  • Malton Community Centre - 3450 Morning Star Drive
  • Meadowvale Community Centre - 6655 Glen Erin Drive
  • Mississauga Valley Community Centre - 1275 Mississauga Valley Boulevard

Employees can be assigned to any location within Mississauga or re-deployed to various locations, shifts and/or assigned a variety of job responsibilities on a day-to-day basis.

Minimum Job Requirements
  • The successful candidate must possess a valid Emergency First Aid Certificate/CPR B Certificate (Lifesaving Society, Canadian Red Cross Society,  St. John’s Ambulance or the Canadian Ski Patrol) certification by March 1, 2020. The award must be current during the employment period.
  • The successful candidate must possess a valid HIGH FIVE ® Principles of Healthy Child Development certification by March 1, 2020.
  • Previous experience working with children an asset.
  • Employment offer is conditional upon receipt of a Criminal Records Search, Level III - Vulnerable Sector Check that is acceptable to the City of Mississauga.
Additional Information

Hourly Rate:

  • The duties and responsibilities of the Camp Leaders are reflected in the hourly rate of pay of $14.75 - $22.39.
  • Staff will be paid on an hourly basis for attending required training or meetings at a Training/Meeting rate of pay of $14.00.

Employment Period is from March 16 - 20, 2020.

Mandatory Staff Training is tentatively scheduled for March 14, 2020 for Camp Counsellors.
Mandatory Staff Training is tentatively scheduled for March 6, 2020 for Camp Senior Staff/ Camp Site Leader.
Please note there will also be a day of site specific training that you will be required to attend at the location you have been placed at. Specific dates will be communicated to you by your supervisor.

Please note: Full-time hours are not guaranteed. Hours are dependent on sufficient program registration.
