Job Summary
To lead the Recreation Division’s operation of the centralized service team for the provision program delivery including aquatics, fitness, community and culture programs lines of business, city-wide, in all community recreation facilities for all ages and demographics. To work in collaboration with community organizations, 3rd party providers, industry stakeholders and affiliates to ensure services are provided safely and in accordance with industry best practices, maximizing participation, revenue and partnership opportunities. Ensure line of business plans address current and anticipated need through the implementation of service plans and performance measures. As a member of the Recreation Leadership Team develop and implement a range of strategic, service and master plans and divisional projects and initiatives that respond to Council and corporate priorities; Develop and hold staff accountable to corporate policy and divisional standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead a multi-disciplinary team of managers and supervisors in the delivery of city-wide recreation programs
- Responsible for the proactive planning, implementation and co-ordination of Recreation programs City-wide
- Recommends through the Director of Recreation new or revised service levels and delivery policies to meet public needs.
- Responsible for program and operational standards compliance
- Resolves community and Ward Councilors’ issues and concerns.
- Participates as a member of the Recreation Leadership Team, Corporate, Developmental and Division working groups, Committees, or special projects.
- Strategic planning and special projects
- Accountable for District/Area financial resource management.
Skills and Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Recreation, Kinesiology, Physical Education, Public Administration or related field
- Minimum of 5 years directly related experience at a management level.
- Experience managing and/or certification in at least one of the functional service areas is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of principles of customer service, recreation service delivery, facilities management, business planning, budget management, municipal administration and human resource management is required.
- Microsoft Office and applicable City software.
- High 5 Quest 2 Certification
Hourly Rate/Salary: $134,542 - $179,389
