Legal Assistant, Prosecutions

Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Prosecutions & APS the Prosecution Legal Assistant provides administrative support to the Prosecution Manager and Prosecutors to ensure timely and efficient delivery of prosecution services.  
The Prosecution Legal Assistant will work in the Prosecution Office located at the Provincial Offences Court and will have the opportunity to work remotely.      

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:
•    Request, receive, review and disclose Prosecution Briefs for POA Part I and Part III offences
•    Request, receive, review and disclose Body Worn Camera evidence
•    Use the Court Administration Management System (CAMS) for e-filing of Briefs, documents and correspondence
•    Conduct ICON searches to respond to inquiries and determine case status
•    Prepare electronic court dockets, summonses to witness, affidavits of service and notices of motion
•    Prepare, update and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures
•    Open new municipal files in iManage
•    Maintain municipal dashboard in Sharepoint
•    Coordinate, order and organize office supplies
•    Submit invoices in SAP Concur
•    Communicate clearly and professionally with City staff, the Judiciary, legal representatives, internal and external enforcement agencies and members of the public
•    Maintain strict confidentiality at all times and comply with MFIPPA
•    Comply with all relevant City policies
•    Participate in corporate projects and initiatives 

Skills and Qualifications

•    Post secondary legal or legal administrative education
•    A minimum of 3 to 5 years legal administrative experience, Prosecution or Court Administration experience preferred
•    Advanced knowledge of Adobe and Excel
•    Experience using SAP, CAMS, ICON and iManage is preferred
•    Knowledge of the Provincial Offences Act and its regulations
•    Analytical skills to identify material for disclosure
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•    Conflict resolution skills to assist in interactions with difficult customers 

Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 58,942.00 - $ 78,592.00
