Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical GIS Student to assist in enhancing our geographic information system (GIS) database. This is a great opportunity to gain proficiency in ArcGIS while helping the City meet its NG911 requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Determine building heights and floors for high-rise towers to assist in emergency response planning.
• Map multi-complex units to improve address accuracy and emergency response times.
• Identify and map unnamed streets to enhance the completeness of our GIS database.
• Develop common names for locations to facilitate easier identification and communication.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
• Assist with other GIS tasks as needed.
Skills and Qualifications
• Currently enrolled in a Geography, GIS, Urban Planning, or related program.
• Have a Degree / Diploma in Geography, GIS, Urban Planning or related program
• Strong understanding of GIS principles and practices.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills.
Hourly Rate/Salary: 20.29 - 24.11
Hours of Work: 35
Work Location: Civic Centre - 300 City Centre Drive, Mississauga
Work Model: This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring employees to be onsite in the office 3 days per week and allowing remote work for the remaining days. Specific in-office days may be set by the team or department to support collaboration and business needs.
