Reporting to the Supervisor of Operations and working in collaboration with the facility team, the Facility Operator II will provide operational facility cleaning, general maintenance and repair services to facilities while providing excellent customer service.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist or initiate with minor maintenance repairs such as plumbing, electrical and carpentry
  • Attend to pool filtration systems, perform water chemistry tests, adding chemicals and pool troubleshooting
  • Collaborate with a team of facility operators performing facility maintenance duties including general cleaning, refinishing floors and waste collection while training and assigning responsibilities to part-time operations staff 
  • Effectively be responsible for room set-ups and teardowns including chairs, tables and equipment for various multi-purpose functions 
  • Maintain the ice surface(s), perform plant readings, operate and maintain the ice resurfacer machine
  • Monitor various mechanical systems including HVAC, boilers, pool filtration and arena refrigeration equipment
  • Successfully maintain and adhere to safety standards, due diligence and cash handling policies and procedures

Skills and Qualifications

  • Secondary School diploma, with experience in working in trades, facility operations, general maintenance or custodial lines of work
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships and provide excellent customer service 
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask and work to deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to speak effectively to the public and read business correspondence
  • Work related experience in custodial and facility maintenance including plumbing, carpentry and floor care
  • Knowledgeable working with computers and technology 
  • Must be physically capable of carrying out the essential duties of the job
  • Must hold and provide a copy of a valid Ontario Driver’s License Class G
  • Valid CPR, First Aid Certification or willing to obtain in the first six months of employment

 

Note: Weekend, evening rotating shift work is required. Successful candidates will need to be prepared for increased mobility, with appropriate notice, in order to fill vacancies, provide developmental opportunities for staff and be responsive to future operational needs or to support the operational structure and its requirements. Travel between facilities will be required. 

Hourly Rate/Salary: $58,942.00 - $78,592.00 
Hours of Work: 40
