Job Summary

OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK at 3235 Mavis Road requires an Elections Assistant to support the Election in October 2026.
Temporary Position from July 2026 to November 2026.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Manager/Supervisor Elections, the successful candidate will be part of the election core team and will be required to perform a variety of daily elections administrative tasks including:

  • Assisting with Election worker recruitment, data entry, compiling agendas and minutes for business meetings
  • Providing support for the candidate nomination process
  • Assisting with the posting/distribution and revisions to the Voter's List.
  • Assisting with polling locations to ensure that all furniture, equipment and accessibility requirements are met with school boards and other City and private locations.
  • Ensuring that Election website is updated accordingly.
  • Responding to inquiries from candidates, voters and election workers
  • Assisting with the training of all Election Workers.
  • Performing reception duties
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum secondary school education; post-secondary education with an emphasis on office administration or a program related to the job is considered an asset.
  • A demonstrated working knowledge and/or strong understanding of the municipal government process and municipal elections; experience in the municipal sector is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised in a team environment; use sound judgement and be able to carry out work assignments independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and apply policies, by-laws and legislation
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills required to interact with various departments, candidates, voters, election workers as well as external agencies.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast paced, high pressure environment.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft desktop applications.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to manoeuvre (push/pull) up to 100 lbs
  • Must have access to a vehicle to travel frequently to various locations across the City of Mississauga and be able to work evenings and weekends as required.

Hourly Rate/Salary: $30.05 - $40.06 (salary Grade B $54,688 to $72,917)
