Job Summary
Are you an Architectural Technology student looking to get experience in the field? If so, the City of Mississauga’s Office of Emergency Management is hiring a Capital Design and Construction Student. This position will support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the City’s Capital Design and Construction program. This is a full-time position with an employment period from January to April 2025.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Confirm and validate facility information, including investigating field conditions, calculate quantities of material and area calculations to support facility inventory management and capital project management
- Assist with coordination and facilitation of monthly team meetings including updating templates, taking minutes, and updating the communications plan
- Assist the project managers in the office by providing drafting and technical support services covering all phases of construction work including but not limited to obtaining estimates, tender documents, site visits, construction documentation, working with contractors and consultants, invoicing, and post-construction inventory updating
- Assist the project managers by infield by conducting site visits, verifying construction progress and attending construction project site meetings
- Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) drafting systems in carrying out job responsibilities.
- Assist in implementing the divisional health and safety programs
- Assist in maintaining the filing system of construction drawings, project documentation, and construction library
- Assist with maintaining the City's asset management program by inputting data and assisting with site validations as requested
- Travel between work locations
Skills and Qualifications
- Registered in a recognized University/College Architectural Technology Co-op program
- Experience with CAD (Microstation)
- Experience with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to read construction drawings
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks
- Possess a valid driver's license and access to transportation between work locations
Hourly Rate/Salary: 19.22 - 22.84
