Job Summary
The Transit Facilities Planning team requires one co-op student to conduct facility (e.g., garages, stations/terminals, operator washrooms) surveys/inspections, record information in databases and analyze results, review pertinent drawings as related to MiWay’s infrastructure standards/specifications, review construction site processes, perform site inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety requirements and provide internal and external communications for areas of impact.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct facility surveys/inspections that include the garages, stations/terminals and operator washrooms.
- Undertake research to support faciltiy planning projects.
- Collect facility inventory data and compile in a succint format.
- Attend team meetings and provide project updates.
- Maintain accurate notes, records and sketches to describe and certify work performed.
- Review project design drawings, traffic control plans, design briefs along side MiWay project coordinators.
- Enter information into databases and summarize information using maps, charts, graphs, etc.
- Conduct site visits, ensure compliance with health and safety requirements at MiWay construction project sites, and prepare site inspection reports.
- Provide support to the Transit Facilities and Transit Infrastructure teams.
- Participate in operator and customer outreach information sessions, as required.
- Perform other duties as required.
Skills and Qualifications
- Must have completed 1st or 2nd year of Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Design & Drafting or Architectural Technology program. Enrollment of subsequent year is required.
- Must hold a valid class “G” Licence with a driving record that is acceptable to the City of Mississauga. A Driver’s Abstract will be required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with other teams.
- Good judgement with the ability to make decisions in the field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Must be able to work outside (driving, walking and/or standing) in varying weather conditions.
- Weekend/Overnight work may be required.
- Successful candidate is required to provide their own ‘Green Patch’ CSA approved safety footwear.
Hourly Rate/Salary: 19.80 - 23.53

Work Model : This is an on-site role requiring presence in the office five days per week
