Job Summary
Visit Mississauga is seeking an enthusiastic and outgoing Summer Co-Op Student to support the Tourism Marketing team during the city’s peak summer season. Reporting to the Tourism Marketing Supervisor, this role focuses on visitor engagement, on-site event execution, and destination promotion at festivals, events, and activations across the city.
This position supports increased visitor engagement during high-demand summer months by providing on-site support at festivals and events, welcoming visitors, sharing destination information, and enhancing the overall visitor experience. The role helps extend the capacity of the Tourism team, ensuring a consistent brand presence, strong customer service, and effective promotion of Mississauga as a vibrant summer destination.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Support visitor engagement at summer festivals, events, and community activations
• Staff Visit Mississauga booths, activations, and information stations
• Welcome guests, engage with visitors and residents, and share destination information
• Act as a brand ambassador for Visit Mississauga, delivering a positive and professional visitor experience
• Assist with the setup, execution, and tear-down of festivals, events, and marketing activations
• Distribute visitor information, promotional materials, and branded merchandise
• Support tourism marketing initiatives and campaign execution
• Assist with familiarization (FAM) tours, site visits, and partner activations as required
• Support on-site visitor surveys, data collection, and post-event reporting
• Track, organize, and manage event and promotional materials
• Provide customer service by responding to visitor inquiries via email
• Assist with administrative duties including data entry, reporting, filing, and document preparation
• Support special projects and perform other duties as assigned
Please note: Evening and weekend work is required, particularly during festivals and events.
Skills and Qualifications
• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Marketing, Tourism & Hospitality, Event Management, Communications, or a related field
• Strong interest in tourism marketing, events, festivals, and visitor experience
• Friendly, professional, and customer-service-oriented attitude
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence engaging the public
• Organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
• Comfortable working outdoors and on your feet for extended periods
• Ability to perform light lifting of supplies
• Comfortable using computers and digital tools
• Must be comfortable traveling to various locations across the City of Mississauga using personal transportation. This role requires attending multiple events and sites, which may involve transporting program materials, supplies, or equipment as needed. Use of a personal vehicle will be compensated at an established per‑kilometre rate.
• Knowledge of Mississauga and local attractions is considered an asset
Hourly Rate/Salary: 19.80 - 23.53
