Job Summary
This is a great opportunity to evaluate the condition of the City’s stormwater management facilities and assist in the planning of maintenance and capital improvement works.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Storm Drainage Coordinator, the successful candidate will:
- Inspect the condition of stormwater management facilities (e.g. storm ponds, bioretention/ LIDs, etc.)
- Prepare field assessment reports and investigate stormwater / drainage inquiries
- Other duties may include assisting in the preparation of the 10-year Capital Budget, mapping, and verifying data for asset management purposes.
- It is expected that at least 50% of the time will be spent in the field.
Skills and Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in a Civil / Water Resources / Environmental / Engineering, Physical Geography or Earth / Environmental Science program preferably at the intermediate or senior level
- Must have an Ontario G-Class Driver’s Licence (G2 or higher) and a clean driving record
- Familiar with Windows, including MS Word and Excel
- Experience with MS Access, Microstation or AutoCad and ESRI/GIS software would be an asset
- An understanding of hydrology, water quality, soils and urbanization as it relates to stormwater infrastructure would be preferable
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills
- Fieldwork experience would be an asset
Hourly Rate/Salary: 19.80 - 23.53
