Co-Op Student - Network Services

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Network Services in the Information Technology division, the successful candidate will perform the following functions

  • Resolve support calls from clients and update data into Help Desk database
  • Triage assigned support calls and client inquiries at the 2nd level and dispatch calls to other network support members as necessary
  • Network Hardware Replacement and Deployment
  • Participate in Network Hardware Life Cycle and IT Asset Management processes.
  • Access Point Deployment and pre-configuration
  • Assist with racking and mounting of network equipment
  • Assist with cable patching
  • Assist with inventory asset management and asset tagging
  • Assist network technicians with day-to-day activities
  • Assist with network switch configuration
  • Assist with troubleshooting and maintenance of ATMS
  • Perform other duties as required

Skills and Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a post-secondary Information Technology program, Network Related courses an asset
  • Must be familiar with a wide variety of software including: Microsoft  Windows OS, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) and enterprise email systems such as Microsoft Outlook)         
  • Should have exceptional customer service skills with a commitment to service excellence, quality and client communication
  • Must have the ability to attend various City sites as required, drivers license an asset
  • Occasional bending and lifting of equipment of up to 40 lbs is required
  • Work hours are Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm

Hourly Rate/Salary: 19.80 - 23.53 
Hours of Work: 35
