Job Summary

The City of Mississauga’s Parks, Forestry & Environment Division is a full-service department that handles a wide variety of interesting and rewarding files that directly impact the way people live, work and play in Mississauga.

The Parks, Forestry & Environment Division of the City of Mississauga is seeking two (2) Business (or related) students for contract positions during the summer of 2026, beginning early-May and concluding late-August (4 months).

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidates will report to the Manager, Business Planning & Support Systems and work with various staff positions, including Business Advisors, Analysts and Coordinators. The Summer Students will work on files focused on:

  • Business process improvements and business case analysis, including making relevant recommendations
  • Implementing proposed changes using project management skills
  • Completing process engineering for existing and new processes
  • Supporting the analyst in building of performance management dashboards using PowerBI
  • Completing feasibility analysis for various requests and inquiries
  • Supporting development of business cases for budgetary purposes
  • Completing analysis to support the quarterly financial statements and long-term forecasts

Skills and Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a post-secondary institution as a full-time student and accepted into a full-time post-secondary institution in September 2026 or January 2027 (proof will be required).
  • Background in Process Management, Business Administration and/or Project Management is required
  • Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Data analysis skills to measure performance and opportunities for improvement
  • Experience in process engineering
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Hourly Rate/Salary: $19.80 - $23.53 
Grade: PC 
Hours of Work: up to 40 hours per week
