Duties and Responsibilities
- Actively prospect for new meetings and conferences opportunities.
- Develop, solicit, and secure business events to meet annual room-night and economic impact targets.
- Develop, complete & submit bid proposals for business event opportunities.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, sales reports, and documentation of client activity.
- Plan & execute sales and promotional client outreach, tradeshows, site inspections, familiarization tours, special events.
- Attend tradeshows, sales missions, networking events, to promote Mississauga as a business-events destination.
- Participate and contribute to the annual budget and business-planning cycles.
- Monitor emerging trends, best practices, and tools relevant to the meetings and business-events sector.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with local tourism partners.
- Work collaboratively with internal City of Mississauga departments to support event attraction as it relates to business events.
- Represent Visit Mississauga at regional, national, and international industry events and organizations.
- Other duties as assigned
- Ability to travel independently within the city, air travel will be required, evening, or weekend work as needed.
Skills and Qualifications
- University degree/diploma, tourism and hospitality specialization, an asset.
- 3+ years of experience in tourism, hospitality, sales, or business development.
- Sales training, an asset
- Strong prospecting, relationship-building, and independent-work capabilities.
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills (virtual and in-person).
- Proficiency in CRM platforms and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving abilities.
Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 78,602.00 - $ 104,806.00
