Business Analyst (Asset Management)

Job Summary

Interested in being part of the conversation on how we maintain our portfolio of building assets and help continue improving our processes and procedures?  Does the idea of developing and improving existing Asset Management framework(s) for building systems excite you? 

Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Asset Management & Accessibility, the successful candidate will support the planning and decision making process to manage the facilities' portfolio inventory data, including maintenance, business process mapping, reporting, updates and providing support for the various service areas with the Facilities & Property Management team.

Note that due to COVID-19, most of our offices are currently closed to protect the health and safety of our employees, clients, and community.  As such, this position will be required to work remotely for an undetermined period.  Once our offices re-open you will report to 950 Burnhamthorpe Rd W, Mississauga.


Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Asset Management & Accessibility, the successful candidate will:

• Document, standardize and automate our business models; process mapping for regular processes and development of standard operating procedures

• Create playbooks for process mapping

• Research, develop and implement a new or enhanced tools and create supporting documentation and training for the processes associated with asset management

• Update key performance indicators and metrics ; monitor, report and prepare recommendations to drive efficiencies, continuous improvement and innovation

• Develop and present feasibility studies and business cases, supported by metrics and identify trends relating to work plans and key business initiatives 

• Conduct operational assessments/reviews to enhance customer service, innovation and staff development

• Work with internal clients to understand and map requests, outcomes and measures of successes area leads

• Develop innovative proposals for continuous improvement initiatives or new business ideas

• May lead and manage special projects and project teams to identify opportunities, solutions and action plans

• Generate reports and maintain Divisional statistics, reports

• Provide consultation and advice to Managers and Director as requested

• Perform other duties as assigned or required

Skills and Qualifications


•Post-seconday education in Engineering, Building Science, Business or related field

•3 to 5 years’ experience in the development and analysis of business plans, capital planning & asset management, strategic planning and the operations in the Buildings sector

•Document Management and SharePoint experience is essential

•Experience in conducting research, data collection/analysis and report writing is a must

•Exceptional analytical skills, including the ability to synthesize complex and voluminous information into written reports

•Demonstrated presentation skills

•Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills are required, as are excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities

•Ability to function in a team environment is a must

•Excellent computer skills, with above average abilities in Word, Excel and PowerPoint

•Proven ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders and ability to multi-task are a must

•Must have the ability to travel and provide own transportation and comfortable working in multiple locations

•Candidates with experience in communications and marketing environment are desired

•Previous experience on business process improvement projects, documented and analyzed business processes, calculated benefits for proposed changes, presented solutions, and developed final deliverables

•Demonstrated competency with re-engineering of business processes, benchmarking, and performance metrics is an asset

•Strong research, analytical and problem solving ability supported by project management experience, team leadership and facilitation capabilities

•Experience in the coordination or developement of facility capital budgets would be an asset

•Familiarity with the Infor computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) INFOR and VFA Asset Management software would be an asset

•Strong communication skills in order to understand and interpret the meaning, purpose and importance of verbal and non-verbal messages

•Ability to interact with a diverse group of executives, managers and external business partners
