Job Summary
Seeking Front-End Developers to join our digital product development team. If you're passionate about technology, building digital products, and working within a multidisciplinary team, you’ll love working at the City of Mississauga.
About you
You have a strong product development background with experience in building front-end applications. You have mastered the skill of translating mock-ups / design specifications into pixel perfect and functional user interfaces. You develop UI components that can be reused by other teams and applications. You understand what it takes to work within a full-stack team of technical professionals through the concept, development and delivery phases of digital products. You follow modern development practices and advocate for corporate standards around how we build product UI within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Manager of Digital Services, you will be responsible for developing user interface for digital products and digital services. You will contribute to a multidisciplinary team to build custom web applications leveraging our microservices architecture and cloud infrastructure. You will be required to stay current on emerging front-end technologies and best practices to continuously improve the way we offer services to the residents. This role require you to participate at various capacities within multiple projects between teams that involve significant scope and complexity.
The successful candidate will:
- Create VueJS front-end components and solutions based off of design concepts and/or wireframes
- Code all JavaScript components of web-based applications
- Code all CSS elements of web-based applications
- Work with developers to integrate front-end components to server-side SOA/Microservices
- Suggest solutions to front-end developer elements
- Determine effort required to implement new front-end solutions
- Create WCAG Level AA compliant front-end solutions
- Contribute to the creation of front-end development best practices and standards
- Provide support for, enhance and/or maintain existing services and applications.
- Determine and translate business and technical specifications to digital products and services.
- Develop, test, communicate, train, and roll-out new digital web application / services.
- Configure, customize, test and install new third-party software applications.
- Comply with relevant City policies and procedures.
Skills and Qualifications
- Post secondary degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline
- 3+ years experience creating JavaScript interactions for front-end systems and applications
- 3+ years creating CSS from concepts or wireframes
- 3+ years of hands-on user interface development experience
- 3+ years experience using front-end development frameworks such as VueJS (VueJS preferred) or React, or AngularJS
- 3+ years implementing design patterns in front-end frameworks
- Extensive experience using and debugging JavaScript elements
- Ability to work independently in a self-directed manner or in a small team
- Experience working in Agile Methodologies such as scrum and kanban
- Experience in Typescript is an asset
- AWS Serverless Deployment or Docker Container deployment experience is an asset
- Full stack development experience with .Net core is an asset
- Municipal experience is an asset
Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 89,464.00 - $ 119,286.00
