Job Summary

This position is responsible for delivering analytics solutions to internal stakeholders that will enhance service delivery to our residents, visitors and businesses in Mississauga. The role includes designing data models, ETL processes, and interactive dashboards, as well as supporting data quality, documentation, and user adoption.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Gather, analyze, and document analytics and reporting requirements from business stakeholders.
- Design, develop, test, and deploy reports and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI and MS Fabric.
- Build and optimize data models and ETL processes to support reporting and analytics needs.
- Implement advanced Power BI features (DAX, Power Query/M, custom visuals, data transformations) to deliver robust solutions.
- Analyze source systems (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle) and develop SQL queries/views for data extraction and integration.
- Conduct data validation and support user acceptance testing with clients and IT partners.
- Provide end user training, coaching, and ongoing support for analytics solutions.
- Prepare clear documentation (functional and technical specs, test cases, user guides, backup and recovery procedures).
- Identify and prototype continuous improvement opportunities for analytics solutions and processes.
- Respond to and resolve Analytics Help Desk tickets in a timely manner.
- Develop training materials and user guides that promote data governance and information management standards.
- Recommend and help implement process improvements, tools, and technologies to increase efficiency and data integrity.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in computer science or related discipline
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with database design, data modeling techniques and ETL processes
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in gathering detailed business requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in data visualization, business intelligence tools, data preparation, and statistical and spatial tool sets (MS Fabric, Power BI, SSRS , ArcGIS, Excel, etc.).
- Strong hands‑on experience with DAX, Power Query/M, and Power BI data modeling.
- Experience writing and tuning SQL queries and views on Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases.
- Understanding of quality management, performance measurement, and analytical techniques (quantitative and qualitative).
- Strong technical, analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non technical audiences.
- Strong organization, initiative, and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Commitment to service excellence and total quality
- Certifications in Microsoft Power BI, MS Fabric or Data Analytics is an asset.
- Experience with programming languages and analytics tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R, SAS) is an asset.
- Experience with Azure ML, Azure Foundry is an asset
Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 89,464.00 - $ 119,286.00
