Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Transit Maintenance, the successful candidate will act as contract manager for Transit Maintenance by the administration and enforcement of Corporate procurement policies and the Corporate purchasing by-laws. Responsible for the development of all Transit Maintenance contracts in accordance with established policies and procedures. Supervise a team to ensure effective, efficient and timely processes and work flows are followed by organizing daily activities. This will include prioritizing of duties to be performed in an efficient manner.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development of all Transit Maintenance contracts.
  • Responsible to ensure all Transit Maintenance contracts are administered within the Corporate procurement policies and by-laws.
  • Responsible to award contracts to vendors following the Corporate procurement policies.
  • Act as a contract manager ensuring all current contracts are meeting set SLA's and are within budget.
  • Co-ordinates all Transit maintenance data and systems with corporate systems and external clients to ensure effective contracts are awarded and monitored and statistically validated ensuring all maintenance contracts are within agreed to parameters.
  • Conducts Performance Management evaluations with staff supporting divisional goals and objectives.
  • Organizes daily activities of staff, including prioritizing of duties to be performed in an efficient manner.
  • Be an active participant of the Transit Maintenance team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent
  • A valid class “G” driver’s license with clean drivers abstract.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a procurement position preferably in a Transit related environment.
  • Minimum level 3 of the Purchasing Management Association Professional Development Program or equivalent.
  • Must follow City Rules, Regulations, and Procurement Policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to act as a coach and mentor through staff development.
  • Proven ability to create, communicate and execute on procedures and processes which foster efficiencies, increase productivity in accordance with safe work practices and equipment operation.
  • Proven abilities in the use of spreadsheet and database computer applications, and use of computer technology in the workplace.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with external and internal clients, peers and staff.
  • Excellent people skills, client focused, team oriented and flexible, strong written and verbal skills.
  • Strong Microsoft program knowledge such as Word and Excel.


Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 77,888.00 - $ 103,852.00
