Job Summary

Under the direction of the Program Manager, Platform Services, the successful candidate will provide leadership and supervise the Platform Services Applications portfolio. Responsible for both operational and project support for all City’s applications hosted servers\services on-premises and in the AWS and Azure cloud, Hybrid Exchange, Mail Gateways, SCCM, SolarWinds Monitoring, VMWare Workspace One, McAfee Antivirus, Windows and Red Hat Linux Server Operating Systems

Duties and Responsibilities

•Liaise and manage resources (direct reports, project teams, stakeholders, IT architects, vendors and  consultants) for management of ongoing system support, service requests, client issues, client builds, project delivery
•Provides supervision to the Platform Applications team, prioritizing helpdesk tickets, work requests and project work, providing metrics of all work in progress to all stakeholders as well as providing timely feedback on an on-going basis to assist manager in identifying performance and operation concerns and opportunities
•Provide leadership, goal setting and proactive problem solving and make recommendations to assist the manager in effective planning and service delivery including the development of standards
•Provide strategic planning with stakeholders analyze and make recommendations
•Build strong relationships to facilitate successful implementation of change in the corporation
•Comply with all IT service levels, change and version control, systems development methodology, standards, policies, audit and financial controls providing feedback and recommendations ensuring minimal system impacts and outages
•Responsible for the architecture, administration of Exchange Hybrid, AD, SolarWinds monitoring, Cisco Mail Gateways, SCCM, patching systems and McAfee Antivirus and AWS\Azure cloud servers\services. Continuous analysis of environment, processes, system monitoring including improvements and resource availability while providing collaborative solutions
•Available to work after hours On-call rotation for after-hours emergencies


 


 



 

Skills and Qualifications

Here's what you bring to the table:

•Post-secondary degree/diploma in Computer Science or related discipline is preferred with a minimum of 7 years’ experience supporting Data Centre infrastructure in an information technology environment or an equivalent combination of education and related experience
•Previous supervisory or team lead experience providing leadership to highly skilled teams, assigning work, motivating, mentoring, coaching and training is required
•Strong communication skills (written and verbal), excellent customer service and interpersonal skills is required
•Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Exchange Hybrid, Outlook, Mail Gateway, and MDM systems, administration, and best practices
•Working Knowledge of AD, ADFS, Azure AD, DNS, GPOs and Networking
•Experience with the Administration of SCCM including patching and WSUS, PowerShell and batch scripting and McAfee EPO A\V
•Experience with automated monitoring\alerting ideally using SolarWinds NPM is an asset
•Excellent overall understanding of cloud providers such as AWS and Azure including their associated Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) offerings is highly desirable
•Ability to provide expert advice and guidance on IT issues to clients, colleagues, management, committees, or inter-disciplinary teams
•Demonstrated ability to coordinate staff, stakeholders and contracted service providers
•Proven experience thinking strategically regarding future mobility and cloud computing initiatives
•Demonstrated organizational, analytical, decision-making, problem-solving and presentation skills
•Industry standard certifications from Microsoft, VMWare, Red Hat and AWS is as asset
•Commitment to service excellence and total quality is essential
