Job Summary

Responsible to communicate with league officials to record statistics and manage the time clock assist in the delivery and operations of a comprehensive recreation program.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Program Supervisor and League Convenor the successful candidate will be responsible to communicate with league officials record statistics and work the time clock. Candidate will assist in the delivery and operations of a comprehensive recreation program, as developed by Recreation Division to meet the needs of all the participants and to ensure adequate safety during league play specifically, the job duties include:

  • Support the objects and philosophies of the specified league program through quality recording and excellent public and staff relations.
  • Accurate completion of administration duties (i.e. complete game sheets, record statistics, facility checks, equipment inventory, equipment set up-score clock).
  • Conduct safety checks of program equipment and allocated facilities daily
  • Adhere to all program policies and standards as they relate to program content and delivery
  • Effectively provide quality customer service and act as knowledgeable resource to participants, parents and volunteers and co-workers.
  • Effectively and in a timely manner communicate any issues/information that could impact the quality and safe delivery of the program to the MOD or your direct supervisor.
  • Attend and participate in trainings and staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Perform emergency procedures as required.
  • Complete all mandatory online e-Learning modules
  • Read, understand and abide by all City Divisional Standards, Corporate Policies and Procedures, including Human Resources Policies, Respectful Employee Conduct, Health and Safety Regulations and Freedom of Information Act.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

  • The successful candidate must be enrolled in or have a Secondary School Diploma, and have a minimum of two years’ experience coaching/refereeing/playing the required sport at the high school level or above.
  • Candidate will also have a valid Emergency First Aid/CPR “B” certificate, (Lifesaving Society, Canadian Red Cross Society, St. John’s Ambulance or the Canadian Ski Patrol).
  • Candidate will have the ability to understand and record statistics, and penalties during Adult League games.
  • Candidate must be organized, pay attention to detail and maintain focus throughout the duration of the game.
  • A Criminal Record Search will be required of the successful candidate, at their own expense, to verify the absence of a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted. 

REMUNERATION:
 

  • Staff will be paid on an hourly basis for attending required training or meetings at a Training/Meeting rate of pay.
  • Advancement to job rate is dependent on working a minimum of 6 months consecutively and 50 hours worked or a minimum of 280 hours and the ability to perform the job at a satisfactory level. Successful candidates must also demonstrate ongoing professional development, involvement in unit specific activities or promotions, attend staff meetings/trainings and receive a “meeting expectations” on a performance review.
  • Staff will receive 4% vacation pay of total wages upon termination of employment or on or around the last pay of the year.
     

Hourly Rate/Salary: $14.93 - $16.61 
Grade: PG
