Job Summary

Timely preparation of food in the kitchen following specific recipes set by the Chef/Supervisor. Appropriate presentation of food and maintaining the cleanliness of all areas of the kitchen.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide the highest level of customer service on a consistent basis
  • Assist Chef in day to day operation, preparation for events and preparing of short order and banquet meals
  • Coordinate timely food service orders
  • Perform opening/closing duties within set standards
  • Assist with inventory management including receive and rotate products
  • Maintenance, cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen environment as directed by Chef
  • Carry out all other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

  • Skilled in short order cooking and banquet food preparation OR currently enrolled in culinary vocational studies
  • Able to handle a variety of responsibilities relating to food handling, preparation and execution of orders
  • Ability to work on own initiative and work well in a team environment that is focused on customer service
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic and have good organizational & time management skills
  • Ability to work a variety of flex shifts; including evening, weekends and holidays; weekdays are an asset
  • Ability to work at satellite locations as required: Locations include Brae Ben Golf Course, C Food Services and Lakeview Golf Course
  • Food Handlers certificate is required
  • Emergency First Aid Certification/CPR B is required
  • Smart Serve and cash handling is an asset
  • Employment offer is conditional upon receipt of a Criminal Records Search that is acceptable to the City of Mississauga
  • Required to abide by the policies of the City of Mississauga, Alcohol and Gaming Comissions of Ontario, and the Food Safety Code of Practice, Health and Safety Guidelines, and WHMIS. 


Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 14.64 - $ 15.65 
Hours of Work: up to 35 hours 
Work Location: Civic Centre
